Have you seen the AMA document outlining changes to the E/M code set for 2021? While we
wait to hear what CMS is doing in 2020, and if there 2021 plans are changing, here’s a chance to
hear about the changes that you’ll see in your CPT book in 2021.
CPT is planning significant changes to the E/M code set for 2021 for new and established office
and outpatient codes. The AMA has released draft guidelines that change how these codes are
selected. The rules for using time to select a code will be different for new and established
patient codes in 2021. The AMA has added the concept of split/shared to their instructions, a
billing rule previously described in the Medicare manual but not in the CPT book. And, for new
and established office and outpatient visits, CPT is proposing to drop history and exam
requirements and retooled the medical decision making definitions.
CPT rules govern all payers, so these changes are important. If CMS includes E/M in their 2020
proposed rule (due out any day now….), that content will be added to this webinar.
Sign up today to hear about these momentous, upcoming changes.
After the seminar participants will be able to:
- Know how to use time for new and established patients in 2021
- Define the key terms in the revised MDM guidelines
- Plan how to implement change in their practice
