With the 2022 change to shared services, it’s a good time to review the unchanged incident-to rules and the updated shared services rules. Incident-to services are services performed in a non-facility setting by clinical staff or non-physician practitioners. Shared services are E/M services jointly performed by a physician and non-physician practitioner in a facility setting. Understanding the rules for these is both a revenue and a compliance imperative.
After the session, participants will be able to:
- Identify the financial implications related to incident-to billing and shared services
- List the types of services that can be billed incident-to
- Describe the documentation needed for shared services
